Melacare is the first triple combination in India based on Kligman & Willis formula for Melasma, which contains Hydroquinone 2% w/w ,Tretinoin 0.025% w/w, Mometasone Furoate 0.1% w/w. Kligman and Willis in 1975 observed an enhanced efficacy of 5% Hydroquinone (HQ), 0.1% tretinoin and 0.1% dexamethasone in hydrophilic ointment in the treatment of melasma & post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In contrast, they noted poor results using each of the mentioned agents as monotherapies. The corticosteroid can eliminate the irritation caused by either Hydroquinone or tretinoin.
